Isothermal amplification of Chlamydia trachomatis/Neisseria gonorrhea rRNA via a transcription-mediated assay (TMA).

SPECIMEN REQUIRED:

Collect:
Urethral or cervical specimen in Gen-Probe Swab Colletion Kit (male or female). For urine samples, the patient should not have urinated for at least one hour prior to sampling. Instruct the patient to collect the first 20-30 mL of the urine stream in a urine cup. Larger volumes may dilute specimen. Female patients should not cleanse the labial area prior to collection.

Transport:
Send urethral or cervical specimen in Gen-Probe Swab Colletion Kit (male or female) at 2-30°C. For urine samples, send 2 mL first void urine in urine chlamydia/GC transport vial (fill within the two black lines on the side of the tube) at 2-30°C.

Stability:
Genital:  30 days at 2-30°C.  Urine: 30 days at 2-30°C.
Urine specimens can be transported to the laboratory at 2-30°C in the urine cup or the urine specimen transport tube.   Urine specimens must be transferred into the specimen transport tube within 24 hours of collection.
